ESI (Employees' State Insurance) Registration

ESI (Employees' State Insurance) Registration:
Comprehensive Health and Social Security for Your Workforce

The Employees' State Insurance (ESI) scheme is one of the most beneficial social security and health insurance schemes for businesses in India, including manufacturing, service, or retail industry businesses. ESI is a scheme formulated by the Employees' State Insurance Act of 1948, and the operation of this scheme is managed by the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) to provide full medical and cash benefits to employees and dependents.

ESI covers various areas of unfortunate incidents such as sickness, maternity, disablement, and death due to employment injury, which in turn causes the employees financial hardship.

With ESI, the employers ensure that their eligible employees enjoy all-around medical treatment, financial assistance at times of incapacity, and also at times of unfortunate events. However, fulfilling the ESI norm is not only a statutory liability but also a demonstration of the commitment to employee welfare that certainly makes the organization more appealing in terms of being a responsible employer.

We, at TaxVice, can assist you through the process of social security legislation complexities, which can be challenging, especially for emerging businesses. For a start-up, MSME that seeks to enhance its business operations, as well as factories, understanding and completing ESI compliance falls within the spectrum of HR responsibilities. We simplify compliance with ongoing ESI registration so that you can concentrate on your business while protecting your employees' health and financial well-being.

What Exactly is the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Scheme?

The Employees' State Insurance (ESI) scheme is a self-financing social security and health insurance scheme for Indian workers. It is managed by ESIC, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.

Main features of the ESI scheme are:

Both contribute a small percentage of an employee's gross salary to the fund.

It is about 0.75% of gross wages. Average daily earnings of  ₹176 or less are exempt from employee contributions.

Typically 3.25% out of gross wages. All types of better benefits, including medical care, sickness benefits, maternity, disablement, and dependent benefits, are included in the scheme.

A network of ESIC hospitals and dispensaries in India provides easy access to medical services for insured individuals and their families.

Each insured employee receives a unique 10-digit Insurance Number (IP Number) and an e-Pehchan Card (Smart Card) that allows access to the benefits provided under the ESI scheme.

Indian businesses have maintained their trust in Munshi Ji’s, who knew their books better than they did. Three generations, 5000+ clients, and countless cups of chai later, we’re still here! Still upgrading.

Why is ESI Registration Crucial for Employers?

The ESI Act of 1948 requires ESI registration to be performed compulsorily for eligible employers. Apart from being a legal requirement, it also provides many benefits both to the business and the employees.

1. Mandatory Legal Compliance & Avoidance of Penalties

2. Comprehensive Medical Care for Employees & Families

3. Financial Support during Illness & Disability

4. Maternity Benefits for Female Employees
